CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

V International Conference of Development Studies (V CIED)

The Spanish Network of Development Studies (REEDES) and Hegoa, Institute for International Cooperation and Development Studies, part of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), announce the call for abstracts and posters for the V International Conference of Development Studies (V CIED), titled Challenges to development: processes of change towards global justice. The V CIED will be held in Bilbao, in the venues of Bizkaia Aretoa and in the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) on 27th, 28th and 29th May 2020.

These are the V CIED thematic lines to which to send the proposals of paper abstracts and posters:

1. Critical thinkings on development

2. International development agenda and public policies

3. International relations and global governance

4. Political economy of development: socioeconomic change, poverty and inequalities

5. International cooperation system: actors, instruments, financing and alternative views of cooperation

6. Vulnerability reduction initiatives and promotion of socio-economic rights

7. Technologies, human development and sustainability

8. Rural development, territory and population

9. Conflicts, peace and humanitarian action

10. Human mobilities

11. Feminisms and development

12. Civil society, collective action and development

13. Education for global citizenship and other critical education approaches

14. Ecological sustainability

15. Social and solidarity economy

1. Send your abstract of maximum 300 words, in Spanish, English or Basque, through the EasyChair platform, specifying whether it is a paper abstract or a poster abstract.

Important dates:

  • Abstract submission opens: 26th September 2019.
  • Abstract submission deadline: 18th November 2019.
    (Extended deadline until 24th November 2019)
  • Notification of accepted abstracts: 13th December 2019.

Abstract submission guidelines:

  • The title should not exceed 120 characters.
  • Abstracts should not exceed 300 words.
  • Add up to 5 keywords.
  • The abstract should be sent in one of the three languages (Spanish, English or Basque) chosen for the paper or the poster.
  • Example of abstract with the required format.

2. Once the abstracts have been evaluated by the thematic lines’ coordinators and by the members of the Scientific Committee, the authors will be notified of their acceptance. The authors of the accepted abstracts will be able to send their papers following the instructions that will shortly be announced and following the dates that appear in the timeline.
