V REEDES AWARD FOR YOUNG RESEARCHERS

V International Conference of Development Studies (V CIED)

The Spanish Network of Development Studies (REEDES) announces the V REEDES Award for Young Researchers, with the aim of promoting and spreading research on Development Studies. The REEDES Award is based on the following rules:

  1. Announcement of a call for a prize and an honourable mention on research that will be awarded to two papers submitted to the V International Conference of Development Studies (Department of Economics and Business of the University of the Basque Country, UPV/EHU, Bilbao, from the 27th to the 29th of May 2020).

  2. A first prize with an economic endowment of €700 and an honourable mention with €300 will be awarded. The two awarded papers will be recognised by the corresponding diploma issued by REEDES and will be proposed for publication in the Iberoamerican Journal of Development Studies, with an express mention of the Award.

  3. The submission deadline will be the same as the one established for the presentation of papers of the V International Conference of Development Studies, and it is necessary that the author(s) expressly indicate their desire to participate in the call including in the first page of their paper "candidate for the REEDES Award for Young Researchers".

  4. The papers and authors that apply for the Award must meet the following requirements:
    1. Submission of the paper in the same conditions as those determined for the papers of the V International Conference of Development Studies.
    2. Positive evaluation of the V International Conference of Development Studies Scientific Committee.
    3. Registration of the author(s) in the V International Conference of Development Studies.
    4. Presentation of the paper in the corresponding session of the V International Conference of Development Studies.
    5. Be under the age of 35 on 29th May 2020 (in the case of multiple authorship, all authors must meet this requirement).
    6. Be a member of REEDES on 26th May 2020 (in the case of multiple authorship, all authors must meet this requirement). Papers from individual members of REEDES, as well as members of institutional partners of REEDES, will be accepted.
    7. The author(s) member(s) of institutional partners of REEDES must prove this condition. To do this, they must send a letter explicitly stating their belonging to the institution, written and signed by the director or head of the institutional partner, to the following email address: info@reedes.org.The letter should be sent at the moment of submission of the paper competing for the award.

  5. The awarded papers will be submitted to a double evaluation process:
    1. The first evaluation will be carried out by the coordinators of the thematic lines of the V International Conference of Development Studies, who may propose in each case one outstanding paper that meets the requirements established in the fourth clause.
    2. A jury composed of five members: the President of REEDES (as president of the jury), the Secretary of REEDES (as secretary of the jury), one of the co-directors of the Iberoamerican Journal of Development Studies and two other members of the Scientific Committee of the V International Conference of Development Studies will be in charge of selecting the two best papers to be awarded first prize and honourable mention, among the pre-selected ones.

  6. The jury may declare the prize or honourable mention void if it considers that the papers presented do not meet the necessary merits. Likewise, the jury may divide the amount of the Award (in its main modality and honoured prize) via the ex aequo mention. In this case, the corresponding financial endowment will be divided between two.

  7. The decision of the jury will be not be subject to appeal.

  8. The payment of the prizes will be carried out by bank transfer.

  9. The awarded papers will be proposed for publishing in the Iberoamerican Journal of Development Studies. For this purpose, they must follow and assume the procedures and conditions of the journal.

  10. Participation in this call implies the express acceptance of its entire basis.
